龙鼓滩初期指当地的一海滩，得名起源自对开的龙鼓洲，因正好位置上对望，及后被延伸指邻近一带地区。龙鼓滩主要分为龙鼓滩及龙鼓上滩两部份，地理上位处青山大冷水西侧，西面临海为龙鼓水道，南面为踏石角，行政上被划归屯门区的乐翠选区。清政府早年将新界割据给英国时，龙鼓滩与及屯门被划归入元朗约，至1969年新界民政署下设7个理民府以管治地方，当中包括屯门理民府，自此龙鼓滩一直归入屯门区发展。
生态及旅游
龙鼓滩是新界西北部海岸线最边陲的地方，其海滩狭长，视野甚广，与白泥成为香港观看日落的著名景点。龙鼓滩对出的龙鼓水道为香港境内几个中华白海豚常见的出没地点之一，海滩北边的小山岗上建有的“中华白海豚观景台”，正是欣赏日落和中华白海豚的良好位置。

大埔滘自然护理区(划定于1977年5月13日)，是一个位于香港新界大埔区大埔滘以南的特别地区，占地460公顷。该自然护理区是香港的首个特别地区。自然护理区内有超过100种原生及外来引进的树木品种并亦设有一条0.7公里的自然教育径。
大埔滘自然护理区本来称为大埔滘植林区，成立于一九七七年。1920xx年香港政府首次在整个新界植林，本来称为“大埔滘植林区”的植林工作亦告开始，保护区停车场附近溪流的陡斜集水区内植有四百四十公顷树木，树林自海拔五十米伸展至海拔六百五十米的草山山顶。由于林区当时最常见是马尾松(山松)，因此当地居民称这区为松仔园。
自然护理区内有超过100种原生及外来引进的树木品种，并设有红(3公里)、蓝(4公里)、棕(7.5公里)、黄(10公里)四条以不同颜色识别路径供游人观赏树木，亦设有一条0.7公里的自然教育径。对大自然特别有兴趣的人，包括自然学者和生物学家，以及需要清静而未受破坏环境的人，该区早已成为他们常到的地方。
植被
该特别地区面积达四百六十公顷，内有数十年前种植的人工林，由草山东面山坡向下伸展至大埔公路。区内林木茂密，树木凡一百多种，种植多年的树木与较近期种植的品种，交错生长。一九二六年政府首次在整个新界植林，而该区的植林工作亦告开始。当局後来又加种了些樟、杉、中国台湾相思和白千层等树。

动物

荔枝角公园位于香港九龙荔枝角的荔枝角湾原址及其南面，分三期兴建，占地17.65公顷，由香港康乐及文化事务署管理。荔枝角公园位于深水埗西，东为美孚一期，南接葵涌货柜码头路，西靠荔景山道，北则为荔湾道，交通四通八达，可乘地铁、西铁及巴士前往。
历史沿革
早于1970年代后期，由于兴建地铁荃湾线，荔枝角大桥(葵涌道)以内的荔枝角湾被填平，湾内的泳棚和划艇场消失。北端的荔枝角泳池和室内体育馆首先于1980年代落成。南端亦落实兴建荔枝角公园，第一期于1990年启用。
1990年代初期，西九龙填海工程使荔枝角大桥以及美孚新邨以南的海域变成陆地，荔枝角公园就再向该处扩展，以作为西九龙公路和美孚新邨之间的缓冲带。但有部分地段受到九广西铁工程所影响，在1998年-20xx年间，九广铁路公司负责重置荔枝角公园内所有受西铁工程影响的设施，第二及第三期发展亦作出相应修订，进行加建及改善设施工程，西铁美孚站上盖亦加建了花园。

岭南之风
岭南之风是一个中式公园，于20xx年11月11日正式开放给市民游览，每日的开放时间为上午7时正至下午11时正。由于公园位处九龙荔枝角的填海区，而荔枝又是岭南名果，故以传统岭南风格造园。全园面积达12500平方米，水景面积约为2600平方米，占全园面积约百分之二十。

卵石径
花园内的一个景点为“健康去屣”。这是一条用卵石铺砌而成的小径，游人赤足或穿着布鞋，于卵石径上来回步行，便能刺激足底的神经反射区，促进足部血液循环。每天的不同时段，均见游人如鲫，可见卵石径甚受欢迎。
砖雕
公园的东门墙壁上刻有两组砖雕，手工精细，人物造型栩栩如生，值得仔细欣赏。其中一组砖雕刻划了《水浒传》的36名英雄好汉。《水浒传》是我国四大名著之一，由元代施耐庵根据家喻户晓的梁山泊好汉事迹为蓝本，编撰而成。故事以北宋末年为背景，当时有108位英雄好汉在梁山泊聚义，劫富济贫，除暴安良，当中以“及时雨”宋江、“豹子头”林冲、“花和尚”鲁智深、“黑旋风”李逵、“行者”武松最为人所熟悉。
